How much experience do you have in the industry?
I have worked with transcripts for over six years. Take a look at my Experience page for more details on the type of work I have done.
What are your office hours?
I live in the Denver area and thus work in the Mountain Standard Time zone. I am available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jobs received outside of that time period will be entered into my calendar at 8 a.m. the next day.
Which reference materials do you use?
Lillian Morson's English Guide for Court Reporters (Second Edition)
Court Reporting: Bad Grammar/Good Punctuation by Margie Wakeman Wells
The Gregg Reference Manual
Merriam-Webster Dictionary
How often do you invoice?
For new clients, jobs will be billed immediately and payment is due within seven days. After three jobs where payment is received promptly, I will move you to the regular invoicing schedule.
For those on the regular invoicing schedule, bills are sent on the 1st of each month and payment is due within 15 days. A fee of 10% will be applied to all late payments. No new jobs will be accepted if a payment is 30 days past due.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Credit card via Wave (my invoicing system) or bank payments via Zelle.
What formats do you use for proofreading jobs? Do you print pages or send errata sheets?
I can proof your work right in Case CATalyst with track changes turned on. Transcripts can also be sent in PDF form, and I will return only the annotated pages. Marks will be made with red pen/type. I do not print jobs or return errata sheets for proofreading.
Will you do a free job to test out your services?
I am happy to complete a paid test job of up to 15 pages. Beyond that, I cannot complete a full transcript for free.
How do we get started working together?
Email with your info: type of work you need help with, the service you need, and an estimated number of pages. Then we can discuss rates, turnaround time needed, and preferences. Once everything is agreed on, I can plug you into my calendar.
How can I help you do your job well?
First, please make sure to update your preference sheet whenever something new comes up. The more I know, the better I can address your needs. Secondly, communicate as much as possible about upcoming jobs, large jobs, and any issues that arise.
Do you have references that I can contact?
Sure! I'm happy to send you contact information for a few long-term clients.
